  1. No.

In order for a degree to be acceptable to most employers, and to grad schools, if you decide to do that in the future, a college/university needs to be regionally accredited. Strayer is not.

A lot of employers also really dislike degrees from schools that are famous for being online or for profit, as Strayer is.

Employers also seem to prefer that you do a degree in person, on campus. And most students find campus based classes to be easier (and cheaper) than online classes. So if it's possible for you to go to a campus of a reputable university, or a local community college, that's a better option than Strayer.

If you *must* go to school online, then at least consider the online programs from reputable, brick and mortar universities, such as UMass Amherst, U Maryland, Penn State, U Florida, U Nebraska, Iowa State, Northeastern, Bentley, Southern New Hampshire University, etc. Also check your home state's public university and community colleges, see if they offer online degrees. A lot of them do, now, and they're likely relatively inexpensive.

  2. It's based on opinion.

Strayer was designed as a school for working adults, as are a lot of online and multi-campus schools like Strayer. An contrary to what the first poster says, Strayer does hold a regional accreditation. They cater to military students as well and for an active duty service member to be able to use their TA (tutition assistance) at a school, online or brick and mortar, the school MUST be at least regionally accreditted.

A lot of people like to talk down online schools or schools like Strayer or Webster. Truth is employers are a whole lot more accepting of online degrees and degrees from places like Strayer than you think. According to a survey of corporate managers, 79% of them think online degrees are just as good as degrees from brick and mortar schools (Strayer has an online option).

If you want to go to Strayer, I say go. Set up a visit and talk to some representatives there.
