  1. Hi Suny,

    I believe that it is too early to judge whether or not it is a good idea to store greenhouse gases underground.

    In principle, it is a good idea.  The problem is that we do not yet have enough information/knowledge about this concept.

    This is a technology that is just now being developed and tested... see links below.  They are planning to use underground caverns that previously stored natural or other gases because they would seemingly have the ability to contain the gas without leaking into the environment.  Also, some of these gases are needed by plants to make oxygen.  If we store away all of the CO2 from plants, they will die and not produce any oxygen for us to breathe.

    If these tests prove the concept to be feasible and safe for both us and the environment, it is a good idea.  However, it is all too often that we humans think that we can control nature and other things and find out differently because of some disaster.
