Question:

Is straightening hair worth the damage?

I have long hair & it's wavy. I like it most of the time but occasionally when I style it, it'd look better completely straight [especially at the ends] I use a blow dryer, maybe 5 times a week after I take a shower to make my hair dry faster. My question is, is drying it just as bad as straightening? I'm confused if I should buy a straightener or not because I don't want my hair to be all split ended and damaged...?

  1. yeah! but if your worried about damage just use a spray hair protector, they usually stop frizz to ;)

  2. yes.

    its almost the same.

    your still applying heat on

your hair and that gives you

split ends. I straighten mine daily

but i use that biosilk oil before

straightening it. It helps it not

    get AS damaged.

  3. yeah it is.

if you look better with straight hair, buy a straightener.. buy a ceramic one

  4. don't do it.

  5. any regular use of heat appliances on your hair will dry it out and cause your ends to become damaged and split. Let your hair air dry as much as possible and find some styles that work w/ your natural texture.

  6. yea it is

    but

    to protect your hair,

try using a heat protector spray before you straighten

    like TRESemme' heat tamer

    it minimizes split ends

and every week or so you should use deep conditioners

    to maintain its shine, etc.

    what i would do though,

is take a shower at night

    and straighten in the morning

so you wont be damaging it so much with the hairdryer

  7. NO IT IS NOT!!! i straightened my hair everyday for about a year, and my hair SUCKS! the ends are dry and it's like my biggest regret ever! i've stopped straightening it and cut off the ends, but some of the damage is still there. i would highly recommend to not straighten your hair! it's definitely not worth it. try to find some other alternative!

  8. Noit really isnt worth the damage why dont you take relaxers

Maybe this link will help it wont damage hair though:

  9. dont do it on a regular basis but if ur gonna anyways then just make sure u use the right hair products with it

  10. I use a straightener on my course thick hair 5 days a week and It is totally healthy, un-damaged and I have no split ends. I use a heat tamer spray so it minimizes the damage
