  1. They vary. Most have a double bed.

  2. If you own the studio you can have 50 people in it if you want.  There's no occupancy laws if all persons are in the immediate family.   There may be fire-code laws.  Think of that family with 18 kids in 3 bedrooms (of course each bedroom is 1000 sqft).

  3. They usually have either a sofa bed or a pull down double just to have space. I'm an estate agent myself and have rented studios to couples before myself. All you need to think of is space because they are usually quite small.

  4. No, a studio isn't always rented by one person or couples.

A studio may contain a one-person bed (twin or pull-out couch), or may provide sleeping for more than one.

It is possible that three or more people could live in a "studio".

  5. It depends on the landlord. Based on the size and the price of the rental, some landlord requires only one person.

  6. Some studios may be unfurnished, but others may have a single or double bed. It just depends on the specific apartment.

Whether a studio can house 1 or 2 people depends on the people. A studio with its own bathroom, kitchen, and closet will seem huge to a college couple that is accustomed to living in tiny dorm rooms with communal bathrooms & kitchens. For a couple that previously lived in a whole house, a studio will seem like it is barely larger than a closet.

  7. It's up to the renter. Occupancy laws usually state 2 people per bedroom, so it's legal to do either. In a small studio it would get awfully close.
