Is studying A-level Chemistry very difficult?

I'm going to get my GCSE result on Thursday....and I have to enroll onto my sixth form and choose the courses that want to do.....before a few weeks ago, I was so certain of taking chemistry, along with Biology, Psychology and Maths...Now I am not too sure.....

I'm quite good at Chemistry as I got A* in both GCSE exams I did last year....and I find it quite interesting......

Can someone tell me if studying Chemistry is very difficult and if i will be able to handle it with the other subjects???

PS..I'm probably only do it to AS and not to A2!!!

Thanx

  1. I got a A* in my GCSE chemistry along with Biology and Physics along with a A*.

I then went on to study Chemistry, Biology and Physics to A2 level.

I ended up getting a D in Chemistry as it was really hard...It was completly different, to GCSE.

Please think about it more and possibliy talk to the A-Level teacher and look at A2 books to see if you can understand.

  2. Chemistry is difficult but if you work hard and are good at it you can make it!

  3. GCSE and A-Level are completely different and the step up to A-Level is probably one of the biggest learning curves you will have to negotiate.

As for how hard it is, it's only as hard as the effort you put in. If you study hard, read all the books and go to every class then I'm sure you'll find it easier than if you only put in the minimum effort and don't do much.

Good luck with your results. :-)

  4. I would say that if you find something interesting that you're more likely to stick with it and try harder.  I don't know how hard Chemistry is to take as a course, but I think you should try it! :)
