Is substitute teaching good experience if I want to teach at a community college?

It is a very good experience only if you grab the chance to be a good teacher. Prepare yourself very well because the students sure will compare you to the previous teacher. Be creative and sometimes crazy about what you do this is the best way of teaching I know.

I don't think subbing is a good experience for potential teachers.  You have little to no say in what is taught that day..the teachers tell you what & how to do everything.  New material is never covered so all they do is review. The students can be unruly.  I was almost always given a movie to let the students watch.

Teaching or even long term subbing requires that you plan out everything on your own.  It requires a lot more dedication and planning...as you are in charge of everything.

maybe you should try to get in as a long term sub to see if you like it.
