  1. Well if you pile on the condiments, sauces, cheese, and oil and vinegar, then no.  But if you stick with turkey, veggies, and lowfat sauce, you can have a healthy sub.

  2. Some of the Subway products are healthy, some aren't.  It depends on what you get on them.

  3. It depends what kind you get,

  4. I think Jared went for the lower fat subs during his diet.  Cripes! He was so fat when he started the diet, that anything less than what he had been eating would have caused a weight loss!

I love their seafood salad sub.  I get it as a salad, instead of on the bread.  I don't know how healthy it is, but it sure tastes good.

Also, I frequently see Jared at Indiana Pacer games.  He is still slim.  He seems quite friendly.

  5. Yes.. and No.  The six grams of fat or less sub is only for a six inch sub, and that is not counting cheese, mayo, or other fattening condiments.  It all depends on what sandwich you get and the condiments you put on.

For example:  A six inch turkey has less than five grams of fat, if you add cheese that is another four grams, mayo is another ten grams of fat.  You can add up the fat and calories really quickly if you are not careful.

I would suggest the veggie, turkey, oven roasted chicken, or roast beef without cheese or mayo, and I would suggest you stay away from the tuna (smothered in mayo!), Italian BMT, or the meatball.

You should get a nutrition guide from Subway so you can decide which is the best for you.

  6. it TOTALLY depends what you get. when it says 6 grams of fat or less there is small writing under it that says "without mayo, cheese, or vinegar/oil" ... and the 6 grams of fat or less is only for certain subs. the subs that taste really good like the bmt are LOADED with fat, and if you get mayo, cheese, and/or oil on it, it's gonna be like eating fast food, especially because its a footlong and you feel like eating it all.

when i go i get something simple (that's on the 6grams of fat or less) with whole grain bread, mustard, and turkey, and veggies, and vinegar. no mayo, no cheese, no oil.

they try to make it seem like it's a healthy place, because some of what they offer can be helpful in losing weight, so when you go in you have that "whatever i get her can't be that bad" feeling. if it tastes too good to be true it probably is.

  7. Taking in consideration exercise and eating nothing else but the sub all day, you too can be like Jared. Of course piling up the mayo and mustard and who knows what else can add on the calories and fat grams in any food.

Eating subway over fast food is definitely healthier for you and eliminates a lot of fat out of the diet.

  8. they have 7 subs that are good for you but they are the 6 inch ones and you cannot put cheese, mayo, or any kind of dressing on them, you may as well make your own sub

  9. Only if you exclude all the best parts like mayo, cheese or any other condiments. Also it says a certain bread is the low fat one. It just doesn't tell you which one.

  10. All i know is that it is better than fast food.  So i guess it is good for you

  11. Well restaurants aren't allowed to print false nutritional information, so yes, it's believable.  Take note that the nutrition facts for the sandwiches don't include cheese or condiments.

  12. YES !! It is working for me !  I work next door to a Subway, so I figured I might as well give it a try.  If you stick to the 6grams or less menu, and skip the cheese, and use their low fat dressings, it does work.  I load up on all the veggies and get either the turker/ham or the roasted chicken breast on the wheat bread (I also gave up regular soda) ....and so far I've lost about 30 lbs !!!!!

  13. It better than most fast food places out there.

  14. yes .............................

  15. Only certain sandwhiches have 6g of fat or less and only if you add no cheese and select a fat free dressing. Subway can be part of an overall nutrition plan.

  16. Yes, It can be healthy, but you just have to choose the right things for your sandwich, like no mayo, oil, white bread, etc.

  17. If you get one of the healthier subs at subway, a 6 inch sub that falls under the "6 grams of fat or less" category, with one of their "fit meals" (yogurt and water instead of chips and soda), then yes, it's much better for you than the average fast food meal.  Mind you, in order to make the sub truly 6 grams of fat or less, you are choosing not to put any fat-containing condiments on the sandwich, such as mayo, etc or cheese.  Good condiments would be mustard, vinagarette, olive oil (a fat, yes, but a good one), etc.  Oh, and one of their wheat breads (wheat bread and I believe that the honey oat bread is also a wheat based bread.)

  18. it is better for you than regular fast food....e.g. mcdonalds....but that doesn't mean it is good for you.

  19. If you look only at fat content, yeah it's ok.  But what they don't tell you about that is that there is no cheese or dressing on it.  It's DRY.

Their stuff is loaded with salt too, mainly due to the processing of the meats.   So, you are eating less fat, but loading up on salt that will raise your blood pressure, which can possibly give you heart disease as a result.

A big thing that isn't widely talked about in the food industry, is that salt is labeled and defined as a flavor enhancer but it's actually used as a preservative.  Just read the labels on some of your food at home - you'll see what I mean.  Should a burger pattie really contain over 600mg of salt??

Plus - the subs are way too bready.  More carbs there - not healthy ones either unless you stick to whole wheat only - so all around they are NOT a seriously healthy choice.  In Jarred's case, he was in danger of having worse health issues if he didn't lose weight.  He lost weight because what he was eating at Subway was less food and more portion controlled than what he was eating prior...and he had to get off his butt and walk there for his meals every time.  So, he had some exercise in the process.

Sorry so ranty, but the whole salt as a preservative and false advertising thing really p*sses me off.
