  1. I think so, because it actually closes up your wind pipe which you breathe threw.each breath of helium you take sucks more oxygen out of your system. But its ok to suck some out of a balloon at a party tho, At worst you'll keep going until you get lightheaded and pass out—at which point you'll stop inhaling helium and your body's oxygen levels will return to normal. Its ok just aslong as you dont suck in too much :)

  2. It is dangerous.  You have to know what you are doing.

  3. IF you suck in too much, and don't breathe, then you'll asphyxiate yourself, other then that, there arent any long term affects

  4. It is .

    But i do it anyways!

Just to make my little cousins laugh .

  5. anything too much...if you breathe it too much, you can pass out for lack of oxygen.

  6. it isnt in limited doses but if youre breathing it more than air then you might hurt your vocal chords and become sick

  7. Yes it is. Some people die from oxygen starvation . Not many but a few. Crossing the road is also dangerous. Your choice.

  8. no not unless you inhale too much

  9. very dangrous

  10. eventually, you could pass out, that's dangerous

  11. I sure hope its not. I'm pretty sure its not dangerous if you just sucking it out of balloons. If you suck it out of the tank just be careful you don't get to much or it might hurt. thats pretty much as bad as it can get. Ive punched holes in balloons before just to get a squeaky voice it was pretty cool and not a consequence later at all.

So just take it in moderation and not by huge amounts or there is a possibility of pain.

  12. Yes!!! Very dangerous!!! Your lung can collapse from all that hellium!!!

    Don't ever suck in hellium!!!

Even if you sound funny lol... just don't do it!

  13. just makes you talk funny that's all its a inert gas wont hurt you unless you are breathing a room full off it for hours then you would pass out from lack of oxygen cause there is very little in it but you wouldnt die just sleep for awile

  14. It isn't dangerous.

It will temporarily make your voice sound higher....because helium handles sound waves differently than oxygen, I guess.

  15. It can be dangerous...but everything can be dangerous if u have to much of anything. I know it may be fun to make your voice squeaky. You may want to check this out... http://www.slate.com/id/2143631/  This has an article on what it does when u suck helium. Good luck!

  16. Yes, it is not meant to be inhaled.

  17. Well... it does kill some brain cells. You just need to make sure you don't have too much. It wont kill you though.

  18. It won't damage your vocal cords or injure your throat, however helium becomes the replacement for the air (oxygen) that you take in to breathe...as a result, if you're not taking in any oxygen, you can become light-headed and faint.

Alot of people think that helium stretches or tightens your vocal cords...it doesn't...what you're hearing is the sound of your voice coming through air that is less-dense.  As a result it will sound different.  Deep divers who breathe helium-oxygen mixtures would speak differently after several hours of breathing the mixture, if this was the case...in fact, when they return to the surfacer and breathe normal air, they sound the same as before they went down.
