  1. Suffering is a part of life, in a religious life, especially Catholicism, and in most Catholic religious orders, it is considered as a virtuous thing and is to be endured with patience. The endurance of suffering imitates the suffering of Jesus Christ, of which He endured much. To make a short point suffering with patience is a sign of a strong and fortuitous person. Keep in mind that our suffering here on Earth, which is necessary, should fortify us and remind us we are only human. Offer your suffering to Christ and He will bear the load for you. God Bless You.

  2. I think it depends on the reason of the suffering. If one suffers for other people then yes but if one suffers because of his own ignorance then he's simply just another idiot. Really.

  3. not necessarily. its nice when ppl see the good in suffering and still be positive, but its not always necesaru for a religious life.

  4. suffering has nothing to do with spiritual status.

  5. suffering  is just that, bad on all counts.

  6. The contrary is true, Mankind suffers when it lacks understanding and comprehension of its state of existence.

‘’I am trapped and cannot extricate myself out this situation. Blacklisted I cannot gain employment, despite my intelligence and skills, Recruiters are delighted to hear and see me, following investigation I am but dross and unemployable. I cannot emigrate as I am broken and returned to this god forsaken pighole. I cannot reach out to anyone as wherever* I roam Steve follows, torments me distorts my words and behaviour and to save face and embarrassment I remain home. All my allies have a w***e attached and are thoroughly poisoned against me. I understand my plight and resign myself to my ultimate slow and tortured death’’

I rarely suffer because I am spiritual and comprehend fully God is a ''$%£%((*&^$$''.

***Addendum: Of course this abrasive attitude exonerates the aforementioned God from onus of responsibility, as angry people tend to to deserve happiness, just the way steve wishes his zombie to remain, I am little else BUT understanding***

  7. yeah, like you couldnt have been a saint without suffering greatly.. so I'd imagine so!? catholism anyways

  8. Suffering is unique to the individual and can be linked to the struggles in "letting go" of perceptions held by the ego.  In other words, the more embedded in illusion, the greater the effort to remove the  conditionings of a lifetime (or lifetimes).  It is judgment, resistance, attachment, and thirsting desire that create what we call suffering.  As we let go of these blocks to realizing our true essence a certain struggle pertinent to any particular ego personality will ensue.   Suffering is in the "I" of the beholder.

  9. no, any extreme is an imbalance. the spiritual life is, for me, about attaining, and maintaining balance in all things.

  10. It would seem that most of the great religions already have "suffering greatly" locked up in there smoke and mirror doctrines.   Catholics are familiar with the lives of the saints, most were made to suffer horrible death's in the name of there religion.   Watching the show unfold in the middle east one can't not see some of the forms of suffering that muslim men inflict on themselves in the name of religion.   I can't really think of a major religion that emphasizes hedonism as a path to a holy life.

  11. the path of least resistance says no

    and common sense agrees

great suffering for religion would to my mind be indicative of great beguilement by religion.

god be with you, good sir.

  12. It would seem that suffering relentlessly through life would grant you worthy of heaven, but I highly doubt God nor Jesus would be happy that they went to all that work 2000 years ago just to have people punish themselves now... live happy and free...

  13. Do you mean a life of perpetual sorrow, pain and strife? Is being abysmally stupid a religious life or struggling day to day for sustenance, everyday your possible last day and everyday someone you know dies, and your children, like the Great Plague of Europe, the Black Plague or Bubonic Plague or the Red Death? Those who believe for sustenance are different than those who doubt in the same desperate times. Is one knowing truly and the other falsely?
