Is sugar bad for runners?

Will having alot of sugar, not they day of a race but say the week leading up to it a race slow your legs down? What effect does sugar have on your preformace?(if you are getting all the other stuff you need too, just a lot of extra sugar)

  1. Having some sweets will have no effect on your performance.

    Sugar is a simple carbohydrate, i.e. energy.  It's what you burn for fuel as a runner. During a marathon, runners pretty much only consume sugar and water. If you only eat sugar you will not get any vitamins, minerals or protein.  However, as part of a balanced diet it's fine.


  2. sugar makes you hyper but that does not make it good sugar is really bad for you and gives you energy at first but you will regret it if eat to much try feeling that tomorrow ...  that goes to anyone
