Is surfing considered an extra curricular if i take a class at a beach?

Just wondering i am begining to apply to college =D looking for the best edge i can get and i surf was wondering if it is considered an extra curricular activity =) thank you.

  1. If your high school, (or the school district in general) counts surfing (or hula hooping for that matter) as a sanctioned activity, you can legitimately list it as an extra-curricular activity. Or, if you belong to a community/organized surf club outside of school, it is an extra-curricular activity (like department or recreation baseball or basketball).If it WASN"T a school sanctioned activity (club or varsity sport) or, an organized club or team, don't put it down as such, it is a HOBBY. Colleges can and will reject you for things that not true, or are 'half truths' in college applications.


  2. John F is a silly stupid old man. It is definitely an extracirricular activity. Especially if you pay to take your surf class. By stating learning to surf in a class as an extracirricular activity it shows that you can undertake other learning experiences and activities while maintaining good grades in school. Colleges want well rounded students that can handle a busy lifestyle. Don't listen to John F...he looks really old.
