  1. Surfing is like skateboarding on crack. Balance is a major issue out on the waves, and you know those little "brake" mechanisms on skateboards? Ain't happening out there in the ocean, sis. You stop when the ocean says it's time!

  2. Any balance improving activity can be helpful to improve your surfing. That could be skate, snow, wake or skim boarding, working out on a Indo board, or doing the balance beam. HOWEVER, surfing is nothing like skateboarding. First, and most important, you have to be at home in the ocean. You need to be a good ocean swimmer who is able to deal with rips, undertows and big waves. THEN you have to learn the mechanics of surfing, paddling out, catching a wave and standing up on the surfboard. It is after you have gotten all that down, that your balance becomes important, and if you have good balance (because, perhaps, you skateboard), that will only help you ride better. To really answer your specific question, "If I skate do u think it would make it easier for me to be able to surf?" the answer is no, but it can't hurt. Go get in the ocean and go surfing!

  3. yeah if u can sk8 and do power moves like carning up sum pavement and doin slides it will be easyr to pick up surfn

  4. It might help a little. I'm a surfer who learned to skate, and all my skater friends always accuse me of "skating like a surfer" which I do- I ride the bowls like a surfer would carve a wave. While surfing, you need a lot more balance, but the aspect of standing on a board is basically the same- who knows- for a while you may just be guilty of "surfing like a skater"

  5. not much. it might help your balance.. but a surfboard has a lot less stability and you.re more likley to dump over. try starting on  a longboard, they're a lot more stable than a short board

  6. somewhat. when you surf, you tend to put your weight and balance towards the front. but when you skateboard, you stay towards the middle.
