  1. Yes if it's prepared properly. The fish should be frozen before it's used for sushi because sometimes fish can have worms. I don't think they get worms that are very harmful to humans, but you just don't want to deal with that. You shouldn't have to worry about sushi from a reputable Japanese restaurant.

Also like any fish or meat, of course you can't leave it out at room temperature for too long, or it could give you food poisoning.

  2. i guess it depends. is the fish/seafood fresh?

  3. Thousands of people eat it every day and there is no FDA announcement to recall any..

  4. ummm ya... why wouldn't it be?

  5. Yes, and it's yummy!

  6. Nobody has been eating it for thousands of years, why start now?

  7. Yes.  It is flash frozen briefly, which kills any parasites that may be present (and there are not likely to be any, anyway.)

  8. Yes.  Millions of people eat it all the time.  There is a concern about pregnant women having it.  And having Tuna can have a lot of Lead but doesn't matter if it is cooked or not.  Also the population of Tuna is in danger so for the sake of saving the tuna you might want to avoid it.  But it is very delicious.

  9. duh! even though its raw, its still good.. why would anyone think its not safe? just try it

  10. It could be, or it might not be, but if you're a regular sushi or sashimi eater, do not be surprised if you get a roundworm... which may cause anisakiasis, which can cause some serious damage to your body.. and the only treatment is to remove the worms via surgery.

In sushi bars they actually use a technique called candling, which is when they hold a light up to the fish fillet and check for worm eggs, and if there are eggs present, will pick them out before preparing the sushi. The only preventive measure is to cook the fish or else freeze it at least three days.

I used to eat sushi before I took a class on parasitic disease, but now I'd rather not.. and just eat california rolls which are made with cooked imitation crab meat... So yeah, sushi might be safe, but there is always the risk of getting a nasty parasite...!!

  11. in a good resturant.. not fish that u catch

  12. yes but it would have higher risk of food poisoning because it's raw fish

  13. Obviously not.

That's exactly why there's thousands of restaurants all over the US serving REAL sushi (( not cali rolls )) that haven't been closed down.

  14. No. Didn't you hear? All the Japanese are dead. Sushi poisoning.

  15. yes

  16. Definitely

  17. If it wasn't do you think they would be allowed to serve it in restaurants?

  18. No, everybody who eats it dies.

    What a ridiculous question.

  19. Why not?

  20. Yes! Eat it.

  21. yeah, but it depends where you go and how fresh it is.

  22. well ya

it's only cat :P     Kiding. Yes it's safe.
