Is swimming good for you?

If it is bad then tell me how. If it is good then how is it good like, for example: Swimming is good for your arms and legs.

Also, does swimming harm your lungs?

I go underwater a lot and I do front flips, back flips, etc.

  1. yes

  2. "Is swimming good for you?"

YES!  Swimming is good for you because when you swim you are using ALL of your muscle groups - and since you don't weigh as much in the water, it is easier to get a GOOD workout with LESS effort!

"Also, does swimming harm your lungs?"

That would depend upon how hard you are swimming :)

No, really, the only way to "harm" your lungs is to hold your breath while returning from deep water without breathing out.  You could then suffer a Baro-Trauma, or lung over pressure.

This only happens to divers on compressed air, not to people on a single breath - so you have nothing to worry about.

As to going underwater a lot and doing front and back flips, I hope that you are making sure that you are aware of the depth of the pool and if there are any others around.

A minimum depth of 10 feet is recommended for ANY diving into pools - OF ANY KIND        )>

  3. Swimming is a great way to work your whole body. It is also a good cardiovascular exercise, if you get going at a decent pace.

  4. they reckon its the best aerobic sport because you work every part of your body. rowing is another example although the difference is that you cool off easier in a pool than on a boat

  5. swimming is one of the best excersises.  It works every part of your body.  Ive swam laps before and when i was done i was so sore i could barely get out, but you wont even notice how sore you are until your out of the pool.
