I've noticed that hockey players, for the most part, are pretty private about their beliefs. I don't hold that against them. In fact, I think that's it's only right for knowledge like that to not be shared with the public. Fans want to feel close to an athlete, but I think the personal stuff goes too far. Let Crosby's actions and beliefs on the ice be everyone's focal point.

He's actually jewish... his grandparents on his mother's side were orthodox and his father's parents were reform (hence the passion for hockey)

needless to say, his mom's parents do not approve of his hockey and feel he should move to israel instead and study at a Yeshiva
