  1. Iodized salt is a mixture of sodium chloride and a small amount of potassium iodide. Both of these are salts and are chemically neutral. The iodine is added as a nutrient to help prevent goiter.

  2. salt is neither acidic nor basic. thats because they are formed out of the chemical reaction between an acid and a base.

    Eg. sodium-base, chlorine -acid.

    iodine is generally used as catalyst that stimulates the reaction cycle.

    salts are generally neutral!
