Is table salt just as good as epson salt?

How many of you use regular sodium chloride for taking baths? I don't have any epson salt so I use regular.

  2. Well I'll be.  There is actually an Epsom Salt Industry Council.  Take a look.  I'm not kidding.  Sounds like you should go to the drug store and buy some epsom salts.  It's dirt cheap.  Taking a bath in regular sodium chloride just dries you out.  Bad.

  3. No it is not. Epsom Salts and Table Salt are not related in any way. Sodium Chloride (table salt) will dry your skin if you do not rinse it off with clear water after you use it, it is the same as leaving sea water (which tastes salty due to sodium chloride) on your skin after swimming.

    Epsom Salts is an old name for Magnesium Sulphate which does not have the same drying effect.

  4. To put things simply, Epsom salt is Magnesium Chloride while table salt is basically Sodium Chloride. Now that's two entirely different salt. Epsom salts are used in baths to treat certain skin conditions as well as help relieve sore or aching muscles.
