Is taking A liquid form of medicine the same as popping pills?

Liquids are absorbed much faster, if you are looking for an immediate acting cough syrup.  there are some gelatin caps that are meant to be long acting, and should not be chewed.

Advil and similar pm meds usually have some additives to help you sleep,  so it depends on what you are taking any why.

Also, cough preparations are usually thicker and when swallowed, tend to suppress the cough reflex on the way down.
