Slimfast has a lot of vitamins and minerals too I think. I also take a multi vitamin for women. Could this be too much of some vitamins?

  1. No way. Slim fast is meant to be a replacement meal, so drinking one will only be like eating a normal meal. Furthermore, slim fasts contain vitamins C and B, and very little A and D. Vitamins C and B are water soluble, meaning they are excreted in the urine after overdosing. The worst side effect you can get from taking too much of those vitamins are probably small sores in the mouth.

  2. you have eliminated entire food groups -this is never healthy.  eat healthy meals in moderation and exercise.

  3. No, you won't overload on vitamins if you take a multi and slimfast.  Do you overdose when you take food and a multi?

oldtimekid2: The greatest thing I've ever heard about the initials of RDA (recommended daily allowance) is: REALLY DUMB ADVICE! (get it, RDA=really dumb advice)  As a representative for a vitamin company, I'm surprised you follow RDA's.  RDA's are the recommended dosages to prevent disease (like rickets, etc.).  It's way too low for good health.  That's only the minimum of each vitamin/mineral you should be taking a day.

Therefore, you won't overdose.  Unless you're taking very high amounts of vitamin A, D, E, or K with both those supplements, or if you're taking high levels of iron, you will be fine.

  4. no... your body will just throw off what it doesn't need. I think Iron is the only one that you may get too much of ..but I think you have to take mega doses before it is a problem. Contact a pharmacist if you feel that may happen

  5. Yes, it can be too much if you take more than 1 a day.

The ingredients for the liquid (I picked Vanilla as a general flavor) are at http://www.slimfast.ca/en/products/categ...

There is 33% of the RDA of Vitamin A and just under 30% of Vitamins D and E. Those are the fat-soluble vitamins in it, and while the RDA is much lower than the optimal dosage, it doesn't specify the source of any of those (which is a double-whammy problem because some forms of those aren't good). Even worse is that there is 28% of Calcium, 40% of Magnesium, 27% of Iron, 51% of Zinc, 72% of Iodine... there is a good high amount of the minerals, which you typically shouldn't get more than the RDA from (with minimal exception).

Now, if you only take 1 Slim Fast a day, it should generally be safe if you take it a few hours apart from your multi... but taking them closer together could make it difficult for your body to absorb all those minerals (and maybe vitamins), and if minerals aren't absorbed properly, they may be deposited elsewhere in your body.

As a side note, your body can't absorb more than 600 mg (60% RDA) of Calcium at any given point in time, so that's another reason to not take a Calcium product (including a Multi) near when you take a Slim Fast. Good luck!
