  1. You are the most interfering mother in law of all time. One day your son will have enough and your gran kids will be a distant memory for you.Is that what you want?

  2. Its funny how its ok for your grandchildren to be taken outside at night to watch a meteor shower but practically child abuse if your daughter in law (their mother and by rights the woman who should have a 50% say in their upbringing, the other 50% being your son and not you) lets the oldest one stay up to watch the Champions league final.  Explain please.

  3. Joan is this question not linked to the fact that your son and DIL will or might be on holiday at that time and you want to get the boys to yourself? If holiday arrangements have been made then that's it you have to accept it. You mentioned some weeks ago about taking the boys to see this but your DIL didn't know when they would all be away on holiday which didn't please you then so are you now looking for answers from people that don't know the situation you have created with your DIL to give you reason and leverage to have an other go at her. If they are not on holiday and it isnt going to cause more friction then it would be a good idea but not at the cost of another conflict with your DIL. That would not be fair to her or the family.

  4. Absolutely!  Meteor showers don't happen that often, it's something special that they won't do very often.

I will always remember the times when, as a kid, my parents took me out late to do something special.  For some reason it's always so exciting to stay up late when you're a kid.

  5. Of course it is!   It's not like it's an everyday event.    It's something they would remember for the rest of their lifetimes.

Life isn't all about rules and regulations, sometimes you have to live and make memories.

  6. Yeah i definitely think it's a great idea!  My mom and I used to watch the Leonid meteor shower when I was a kid.  We would get up at like 1am and go watch it until I had to go to school.  It's just one day out of the year and it's a fun experience.  Plus if your kids are out of school anyway, I don't see a prob, just try to put them to bed earlier.  Have fun!

  7. Oh my gosh, yes!

I home school and take every opportunity like that for education.  It's not something you can read in a book or be told about.

Get a blanket, lay on your backs and watch the show.

  8. Yes it is SO amazing! Anytime you have a chance to go with kids you should!

  9. Yes Yes Yes!!!!  It doesn't matter how late kids need to stay up, things like that are just amazing experiences, and I think all parents should make an effort to share it with their children.

  10. Yes, if they are old enough to remember  -  mine enjoyed it.  I got them out of bed and we looked through a bedroom window.  But if you live in a well-lit built up area, you'll have to go out of town.

  11. Only if they and their parents are interested.........each to their own!

  12. Well NO i don't think so ...BUT UP TO THEIR MOTHER not YOU your their Grandmother ..very poisonous one too !

  13. Not if they are abroad at the time having a *proper* holiday
