My friend at work is always trying to find and new way to make herself feel better buy taking natural medications. In fact she takes at least 22 pills a day. I see her not walking well and gaining weight. I don't think taking that many pills would be good for you.

  1. I am hard pressed to understand why people will pay

100 or 200 a month to take supplements of all kinds that are not clinically tested nor have any history of actually working.

I think the ones that do work only seem to work because the people taking them are 'suggestive' and can be convinced of anything. I personally think there is a lot of hogwash written

about the value of natural vitamins. I remember 10 years ago

the big deal with Vitamin E. Everyone had to take 400 mg

of Vitamin E it would prevent heart attacks and this and that

and heal scarring and all the rest of it. Now they are saying that is not true and it actually can contribute to increasing your chances of cancer. If you eat a proper moderate

diet you should get all the vits and mins that you need from

that alone and it is a lot cheaper!.

  2. vitamins ought to be taken in with the food you eat....the body needs to go through the digestive process that is the way the body functions......biochemic tissue  salts are excellent and a natural  form of the 12 salts/minerals in  the body, they are inexpensive and very effective...and remember it is the lack of minerals in the body that causes imbalances.

Never put into your body what it doesnt need....that can  be worse in the long run. the human body is not a machine, it is a living organism that, when in balance is very capable of healing itself.......

  3. Mostly does nothing, although some supplements have side effects.

She should see her doctor to find out what is wrong rather than blindly trying this and that, but that is her decision and not really any of your business.

  4. Taking vitamins has to be done with common sense. If she is having adverse effects or is getting worse, not better, she should have sense enough when to go see a doctor! If she is determined to do things the natural way, she should be seeing someone who is LICENSED to practice alternative medicine--these are substances we take into our bodies so should be understood! Plus, another thing this friend of yours may not understand is that just as each body is individual and unique, so are the way our bodies utilize and process vitamins--they don't all work the same for everyone! Case in point, my sister swears by echinneacea--but it does nothing for me. I, on the other hand, get superb results with vitamin C, but my sister does not....It all depends on what your body NEEDS. People who are licensed to practice in alternative medicine can also TEST a person to see what vitamins a person needs. This is a very important and often ignored step of alternative health. You can take too much of a good thing as well. be a good friend, encourage her to find someone who practices in the field and get tested for what she needs!!!

PS--if she is really wondering I think she can go get tested for vitamin levels and stuff at a regular doctor--if she requests it--there are different things they can test for...she really ought to have educated guidance with this...
