Question:

Is talking with some one in the car just as dangerous as talking on a hands free phone call?

More and more states are putting laws on the books that will result in hefty fines if a person is found to be talking on a cell phone. Some laws allow for the use of "hands free devices" that let a person talk on the phone while both hands are on the wheel. However a new study shows that even hands free conversations are dangerous...so my queston: is a converstation with a person in the car dangerous too? Should talking be outlawed too?

what do you say?

  1. Yes it is according to the (NHTSA) and the reports that I have read but the danger is created when you are talking and you take your eyes of the road and should it be banned, no.

  2. I say YES

While the roads get more and more con jested we need to pay more attention to our driving. If the call is that important, pull over and stop. To take your mind of your driving can and does cause accidents

I SAY YES AND IF i AM DRIVING AND GET A CALL i PULL OVER AND IF i MISS THE CALL, i LOOK ON MY PHONE TO SEE WHO CALLED AND CALL THEM BACK.

pLEASE DO NOT DRIVE AND TALK ON A CELL PHONE HANDS FREE OR NOT.

  3. there are always gonna be lunatics who want to ban everything under the sun, and they always have some bullshit study that "proves" something or another.  half the retarded drivers on the road are incompetant without any distractions anyway

  4. We should outlaw driving.

  5. Oh, come on!! Ridiculous! Get real.

  6. talking to other person through the phone while driving is not the same as talking to other person with you in the car while driving.

when you`re talking to another person with you in the car does not distract too much attention of the driver because the other person you`re talking to is just beside or at the back not just like talking to another through a mobile phone,it distracts the drivers attention simply because you`re talking to another person from a far away distance and your concentration/mind is where the other person is....................and a good driver never take off their eyes on the road while talking to someone beside or at the back of them in the car.

  7. Hard call but I vote  hands free beause some people have habit of making  eye contact and dont watch road.  More states are passing  no cell ,except hand kind.   *mamatx

  8. Well I am a professional firefighter and I can really appreciate all attempts to ensure safe driving--but these phone laws are nothing but money makers for the towns. I see distractions of every kind--I see it all.  Any distraction can be fatal. There is a law about distractions--already a law in the book for MANY years----now it is a definite thing-- Cell phones--not donuts--not coffee--not dogs in the laps---CELL PHONES--tells me they are just making money in court. The answer?? DON"T use the handheld and you can't get the ticket. You can't fight the judge on this stuff.

  9. No, because if someone is in the car with you, there is someone to tell you when to swerve in order to avoid the accident!

  10. no

  11. Definitely not.

  12. Talking with someone in the car comes natural and is no way as dangerous as talking on the cellphone (hands-free or otherwise) while driving. The former in fact keeps you alert while the latter actually distracts you from driving.

  13. Id say its text messaging that's causing all the problems
