No, technology is not at a standstill. Current technology is just growing more efficient and smaller, as well as evolving to be more advanced. There are plenty of new products, I just think you're not looking hard enough. Take a look at the Ford's new Sync system they're installing in a lot of cars to see how those simplistic GPS systems from "ten to twelve years ago" have evolved.
