Sometimes, old technology lingers on in metaphor, such as "putting the cart before the horse."  After the introduction of the airplane, when someone is in a hurry, it can be said she/he is "flying low."  Evolving technology has a tendency to give us more descriptive tools.  From time to time, those tools combined with imagination will bring about even more technical development.  It would be nice, if spiritual and social constructs would evolve as quickly as technology.  If that was indeed the reality, I think the world would be a more peaceful and enjoyable place.

  3. No, evidence to this is that technical studies often use metaphors or similes to get there students to form concepts of newly created technology. If technological change where necessary for this it would form a mutual dependency.

  4. no, i think social trends or other things that are not related to technology could cause it.  but it's hard to isolate since technological change is happening all the time.  but a more specific question would help me address this
