What is the opinion out there? For instance, how can they clone meat, complete animals, etc and not be able to cure diabetes? Too much money to be made? Ditto for alternative fuel - coal gasification (see Germany , WW II), Hydrogen as a fuel for automobiles - cheap , plentiful and burns clean ? How very primitive the electric car batteries look 631 Little Batteries in a heavy block!? Can we thank the coperations for the New Dark Ages?

  1. Not really some technology is very expensive, too expensive for most people to use. The diabetes “cure” is currently being tested where they harvest cells and clone them and put them back into the donor, years way from being usefully. Trust me on that one I have diabetes and would love to be a test subject. But there is more the one cause for diabetes and some people may never be cured.

Coal gasification and Liquefaction couldn’t compete with cheap oil so we might see more coal in the future, but it was the price of oil that held it back. In other words why pay $10 when I could use this for $1.

Hydrogen is a pipe dream, just where is this plentiful supply of cheap hydrogen? If we convert even a fraction of the cars on the road to hydrogen the price of hydrogen will go through the roof. Most hydrogen is made from natural gas we would be better off just burning the natural gas. No solar won’t work either; if you put solar panels on the roof of your average house you couldn’t supply enough hydrogen to meet the needs of the average American driver. You could charge a battery pack that would let meet those needs using the same roof.

Electric car batteries, the best batteries are very expensive and couldn’t compete with cheap oil, again why spend $10 when I could just spend $1. Also electric car have a limited range, yes I know most people drive less than 50 miles a day, but why would I want to buy two cars, one for trips less than 50 miles and another one for when I go on longer trips.

No we don’t have the corporations to thank we have cheap oil and people who use the cheapest method to drive. And the other technologies are years from being workable.

  2. Well I think people is not preassuring enough the goverments to invest ressources in technological development. There are a lot of R&D programs that lack funding and they can't commercialize the technology.

  3. Information is power. Today you know that we are in a infrastructure hold-back. California is one of the leaders in the old movement: no nuks, no roads, no new power poles, no more dams, no more refineries, no drilling for oil... It is like we can now have the advantages of China (which has no infrastructure) and not worry that we missed a generation. We can build new electric airplanes, electric trains, electric cars and not import oil. This technology is on CoolingEarth.org. And you can help it not to be held back by getting your friends to help this great charity (OK soon charity)
