Question:

Is telekinesis scientifically possible?

I don't care how improbable it is, how likely is it that such a thing is scientifically possible? If so could it be discovered or would it be an evolutionary step?

  1. They did this experiment with like random numbers and these dudes were trying to influence the result and there was this result which was like small but measurable but sorry, I don't have the reference.

And this guy in France or somewhere did this experiment with these like chickens who thought this robot was like their mom and made the robot come to them or something like that.

And read Rupert Sheldrake. The scientists wanted to burn his books which is always a good sign.

    Hope this helps.

  2. in my opinion, i think it would be an evolutionary step.

  3. yes there are some testes to prove that telekinesis exist

  4. People have performed it before. Of course, this is written off by skeptics as "impossible", since we can't figure out how the hypothetical idea of moving objects with our minds work.

I believe telekinesis is real. I just don't know how it works. Then again, we don't know how a lot of things work.

And Telekinesis doesn't necessarily break the laws of physics. We'd be pretty egotistical to assume we know the ins and outs of all things to do with physics.

A big problem with getting proof is due to the fact that there is almost no funding to research it. (Remote Viewing got a good working over by the CIA a while back, though)

  5. Oh science. Well scientifically its not real. But I believe its real. There are things science can't explain

  6. Is it possible? In the sense that it cannot logically be proven to be impossible, perhaps.

But practically speaking, it does not seem to be possible at all. Certainly our knowledge of physics and neurology does not predict that such an ability would exist. Ostensible demonstrations of psychokinesis (PK) have not risen above those that could equally well be reproduced by amateur magicians, so there is little reason to believe they are legitimate. Regardless, some researchers have tried to establish the existence of PK anyway by performing statistical experiments with random number generators (see the Rhine Institute, or Princeton's PEAR project). However, the results generated by these research teams are at best described as debatable, at worst described as pathological science.

One of those warning sings that you're dealing with more of a pseudoscience than anything else is the lack of theory based on and predicted by established science. A theory starts with a valid scientific hypothesis that is tested and confirmed by repeated experiments by independent research teams, and anything less is not a theory. However, parapsychologists have not even got this far. Because our present scientific knowledge does not predict the existence of PK, it's impossible to form a valid hypothesis for it other than the trivial "PK exists". But this is an orphaned superficial hypothesis completely separated from any sound foundation in known science. That's a great example of how science does NOT proceed. Science is a process which builds upon itself, and here is a good example where the results are being presumed first with no supporting theoretical foundation. As U of O psychology professor Ray Hyman said of remote viewing research, "you need a positive theory to guide you as to what needs to be controlled, and what can be ignored. Parapsychologists have not come close to this as yet."

  7. I would assume it would be towards the end of our evolutionary chain, because I'm pretty sure that to achieve telekinesis we would have to (at minimum) have full control and use of majority if not all of our brains. While I don't remember where I heard it or even if its true, I heard that our brains do emit a sort of faint energy field, and if that is true then it is very likely.

I'm no expert and have no proof but decided to put my 2 cents, cheers.

  8. No, it's not physically possible.  We don't know of any force that acts that way, and if there were one, we'd be missing something really, really big about the way the universe works - and there's nothing to suggest that.

People have mentioned it might be the next step in human evolution.  The important point to mention here is that evolution doesn't work in the real world like it does on X-Men.  Nothing has ever evolved to be able to break the laws of physics, and that's what telekinesis would be.

  9. there is talk of it....but we are 100's of years away.

  10. We don't know everything about the world around us. Until Galileo everyone thought that Aristotle had solved the world. Now everyone seems to believe that Galileo and the scientific revolution solved everything up to Einstien. Every time in the past we have said anything with certainity we have been proved wrong. So who are we to say that telekonisis isn't possible?

Improbable-yes. But even according to quantam mechanics, nothing is certain (except perhaps logical truths) anyways so who cares?

Either an evolutionary step or discovery could lead to this. We don't really know what we are talking about here, so it is very hard for us to predict how we would come by it. Evolution probaly wont help in this culutre though. Smart people go off to have careers, not have kids. So even if we were to change, these changes do not come overnight. We will be far gone by the time it happens, no matter how it happens.

You really haven't defined scientifically possible. Science is ever evolving and changing. What isn't accepted one centur works the next.

  11. It will be possible one day, according to scientific standards, I believe.  Maybe a hundred years from now, some people will be able to pick small objects up without having to touch them first.  When companies start mass producing headgear computers, where thinking moves things on a screen, or a robot, then some kid is going to make that jump from virtual into actual, and so the computers will be like "training wheels" for the people who want to, or are able to, develop PK.  Scientifically, science will have to evolve with this change if it ever wants to claim knowledge about it, I think.

  12. Telekinesis is now called psychokinesis (PK) in the scientific research literature. Despite the many editorial sources posted by YA skeptics there is supporting evidence from actual scientific experiments for psychokinesis.

It is already both discovered and has evidence.

Again despite the misinformation frequently posted by YA skeptics it violates no laws of physics when understood from a quantum physics perspectives.

  13. if one looks at it logically it could be possible ,but  most mainstream scientists do not believe it because of lack of evidence

  14. It would have to be either a tool or a technique either scientifically/ mechanically possible.

You would need to be able to speed up/vibrate the atoms in a molecule to the point where visible motion is perceived.

In which case, of course, some sort of levitating force would need to be present in order to push whatever it is you need a certain direction. I'm sorry to say, the human brain can so far not yet exceed leaving the skull and affect surrounding areas =)

It is highly possible, definitely, that you can control a form of magnetic wave by some way of wearable device. Earnshaw's theorem in the mid 1800's proved that a stationary magnet can not suspend any object in mid air stably, and that the object or the magnet itself must be in motion.

If, say, you coated whatever you wanted to move with a nickel or cadmium foil, and possessed an extremely powerful electromagnet, then moving the magnetic field around the coated object would make the item move at least slightly.

Just don't try it out with a TV remote or the mouse on a computer, you might wipe out the hard drives of those electronics!
