Is thailand worth it?

My parents are talking about going to thailand on holiday apart from the shopping is it worth visiting?

There will be some part that still conservative and also part that  modern already. talk about crime and stuffs it;s hardly happened :) come visit!

Thailand is a big country and very varied. Yes, it is a fascinating country. It depends what you want. Beaches - Phuket,or all the beautiful beaches and islands - Koh Samui etc  the culture visit places like Bangkok, Chiang Mai is really lovely with lots to do and see. Kanachaburi has come interesting things and is not too far from Bangkok. Thailand is a VERY interesting country.

Why wouldn't Thailand be worth seeing?  They will be in an exotic country seeing things and doing things that they will never encounter back home.  Thailand does tourism very well! Riding elephants, visiting hill tribes, seeing beautiful beaches, etc.! There are lots to see and do - and you can go cheap if you want or pay an "arm and leg" - up to your own budget!

Your parents do have to have a passport with at least 6 months left in it.  Lots of information on the following travel forum links.

If you are worried because you think your parents are too "old" don't worry about it, I have come across tourists who have been over 80 years old traveling around Thailand having a good old time!   Your parents can travel at their own pace and it is not necessary to do a lot of walking, most tours visit areas in vans or buses and you do very little walking.  There are walking treks if they want to do that too.  Tell them to visit Chiang Mai, from there they can visit the Golden Triangle area, see hill tribes and see Long Neck Women and ride elephants!
