  1. No, it is not ''true''.  It is a reasoned explanation of the evidence (fossil and biological) that life on earth evolved over eons.

This is opposed to the ''theory'' of creation science that starts with a given conclusion as ''true'', then seeks evidence to support the conclusion, and rejects, or uses flawed arguments to discredit, evidence that does not support the conclusion.

In the years since Darwin published his work, the theory of evolution has changed.  Creation science advocates like to point to this as ''proof'' that Darwin's theory has been disproved.  It is nothing of the sort.

Darwin proposed that life evolved in a steady, gradual process.  In the years since, the fossil record has been more thoroughly explored, and it now seems that life evolved in spurts.  Darwin based most of his work on observations of adaptive strategies of contemporary biological systems.

  2. dnt think so.. his background was not convincing, so did his theory..

  3. This just in: Evolution is FACT. We can watch it happening in real time with single cell organisms. Even with slightly more complex organisms, we can watch them adapt to conditions we set for them in a lab. EVOLUTION IS FACT. It has recently been observed FACTUALLY in humans recently.

The thing that seems to confuse everyone about this issue (aside from religious zealots refusing to accept scientific fact) is the 'theory' part isn't really the evolution bit. The theory part is really just the method or mechanism by which that scientifically proven evolution occurs, ie natural selection. Scientists widely agree that this is likely the mechanism by which evolution occurs, but it has yet to be proven empirically.

To explain my assertion above that it has been observed in humans: Recently a group of scientists who were studying a small, remote town in Finland discovered (through meticulous records kept by doctors over a great length of time) that the crop harvest experience of a grandparent can effect the grandchild's health (even more than it effects the health of the parent).

This has led to the isolation of the epigenome as the prime suspect in the evolution of humans (and in fact all living things). It turns out you are evolving right now. Your body is adapting to your surroundings and your experiences and those surroundings and experiences will have a profound impact on your offspring many generations into the future.

Let me explain, you think to yourself 'if I smoke, I'm not harming anyone but myself'. Until recently everyone would've agreed. Now we know that if you smoke, your children have an increased capacity to absorb the harmful toxins in cigarette smoke and grandchildren even greater still.

Evolution is FACT. If you're still not sure, don't worry. I'm sure you'll grow into it.   ;~)

  4. Yes. As the theory might come a bit strange, but there have been a lot of scientific evidences  found that can support it. in the promulgation of the theory back in the days, people laughed and thought Charle's might be crazy to have founded such an act to the point that the church even excommunicated Charles just to silence him! but as time progressed and with the careful planning of science, scientists have found out that what the theory says is really true, we descended from a "millions of years"  evolution.

  5. I'm assuming you're talking about his work on the formation of coral reefs. Yes, actually it is a very sound study and did not win him fame in the scientific community for no reason. Now I'm trying to think if he made any later papers...

  6. Theory of Evolution?

Well, if you're Religious then, you believe god created humans

If you're scientific, then you believe that animals from the past evolved into us, modern day humans.

  7. I am no bible thumper, I believe Charles Darwin had no right to publish without the proof of the fossil record, but he went ahead anyway, hoping that the fossils would come along at a later date.

                WERE STILL WAITING.

  8. it's a theory.. You're asking is evolution true.. I think it is.. but some right wing christians might not agree with that sumation.  aka the old addage of creationism.. it's a fairly unanswerable question as it has alot to do with personal opinion.

  9. I'm going with Darwin,

but it is all an oppinon

even though science is more reasonable than the bible ( to me)

  10. I believe in evolution....and YES... humans and all animals ARE evolving or they die out.  Survival of the fittest holds true.

  11. yes evolution is true

  12. if evolution is outlawed only outlaws will evolve ;)

  13. something happened along time ago and is happening to this day

  14. Sadly, for the uninformed, evolution is true. It may be unpopular with the uninformed and even hated by religious fundamentalists but...

    evolution is sound science,

it just ain't real popular wif a lot a folks!

Thankfully, the actual validity of facts is not subject to popular opinion!

They either is ot they ain't, if you get my drift.

It might be OK here to suggest that you and others find out what a theory actually is. One hint; it deffinately is not the same as...opinion...even though many of our fellow travelers on spaceship earth misuse the term in this manner.

This is one of those facts we spoke about but this time we get our information from the Dictionary! We must take care when reading the dictionary to notice idioms and the note on typical usage.

Some really smart people misuse the term theory to mean opinion and the dictionary may list this popular misuse as one acceptable meaning. This is nevertheless, an incorrect use of the proper term and cannot be used accurately in serious writing.

    I suppose it is possible that while popular opinion is...popular;

it is, more often than not, generally incorrect!

  15. No. If it were, we would still be evolving.

Animals aren't evolving. Humans aren't evolving.
