Is that new atom smasher thing going to destroy the earth?

After all, the Europeans have a history of s******g things up. Look at the Beagle 2 debacle. That atom smasher thing might suck us into a black hole, or create another universe right on top of ours. Is it really safe? Can we *really* trust what scientists are telling us? They're always making stuff up and then say all kinds of smart stuff like E=MC squared as if that's supposed to prove anything.

  1. Relax our oun Aliens are not very upset. It is just mans unralistic goal of doig it diferent every time.

  2. they have already manufactured antimatter, etc. in minute quantities, this will do nothing

  3. not if your ugly face doesnt destroy it first

LOL, just kidding.. and who cares about

    science

  4. No, there is no chance that the LHC will destroy the earth. For a bit of background, the earth is constantly bombarded by high-energy cosmic rays, which haven't destroyed the earth yet. The LHC is merely creating similar rays where they can be very carefully monitored and observed.

  5. OK Kurt, ho hum

  6. High energy cosmic rays are constantly hitting the earth with far more energy than the LHC will be using.  Billions of these rays have been hitting the earth for billions of years, and nothing bad has happened.

The only difference with the collisions that will be happening in the LHC is that we will have a ton of sensors surrounding the collision so that we can see exactly what's happening.

  7. I don't think people have the ability to create a universe or any other thing that will suddenly destroy the Earth. It is just our own conceit that suggests we have any ability to do anything significant in the universe.
