Is the 10th class exam in india hard?

I am from america, and since my parents dont like the public school here, they want me to do my 10th grade exam in india next year. They said that it will be very hard, and I will have to start studying all the time for about 6 months before the exam. So I just have some questions

Is it really hard, do the people who grade the exam take marks off for very tiny things such as using american spelling instead of british.

Do they let you use calculators on the math problems.

Do they ask very vague questions, such as "What do you understand by mitrochondia, explain in 70-75 word" I really dont know what specific things to explain in that

anyways, I know nothing about the education in india because I have lived in america all my life, my parents both passed the exam in 1st divison, but that was 30 years ago so they probably forgot all about it. I am afraid that I will fail, since I am not exactly sure how to answer their questions, the only question papers I got were for math.

  3. when you move from USA to India, then you have to work a little harder there.

    1. no calculators allowed, you need to do all the math by hand or in your head. to help you u can learn some vedic maths techniques which are fast and easy. or practice the traditional method slowly.

    2. you wont have teachers teaching you with models and stuff, most of the topic are left to your imagination. so you really have to imagine what happens when this reaction starts and etc.

    3. Teachers will help you, but not like in USA. not a practical approach. Theoretical mainly, you will be surprised to see your friends mugging up the answers most of the time.

    4. you have to give essay type answers for few questions. so it is better you learn to express your understanding in words.

    5. be cool, you can pass out with good marks, not to worry, just make sure, you understand what you are reading well, so that you can write pages and then do math by hand and in the mind.

    good luck

  4. as u r from usa, u really need to work hard

after study only for one month for a syllabus of one year

  6. firstly it is not that hard as ppl think it to b...all u hv to do is b thorough in the subject..ie the text books prescribed....secondly, u r not allowed to use calc on math problems....u can also see previous yrs solved papers that can be some help...in the end solve as much pratice papers as possible..coz its basically a speed test rrather than a knowledge based...hope this wll help u.. and all the best...

  7. if you can solve papers and guess papers from http://www.theexampapers.com then i guess u will know eher u stand. Best of Luck. Its not very tough.
