  1. Depends on which focus you are looking at. In 2001 they had two different motors. SOHC 2.0 SPI or the DOHC 2.0. The Single cam motor is basically a bored out 1.9 Escort motor, which is very reliable and you will get somewhere around 35mpg with it. There are several places you can go to see upgrades to the Focus. Focaljet.com and Focusfanatics.com. Both sites will give you insight on how to get the most out of your car.

Insurance again depends on the make of the Focus. If it is an SVT, your insurance will be higher. Normal LX and ZX3 or ZX5 will not run as high.

The stereo again depends on the model. Ford put out several special edition models and offered a lot of options on the stereo. The base model was AM/FM with a cassette and four speakers. Not the greatest, nothing a couple of 10's in the back wouldnt help. Ford put out the Sony Edition and it put out 460 watts. That is rockin in that little car. Some people got them with the upgraded stereo in them, which included a 6 disc in dash changer and a built in 8 inch subwoofer. This stereo was pretty good too. You are not going to win any competions with it, but I have heard other's stereos that were pieced together and didnt sound as good.

  2. They are good on gas, small car with a 4 cyl engine.

Insurance wouldn't be bad either..4 door car, not too sporty.

I doubt the stock sound system is very good, you might want to get a sub/amp and replace at least the 2 door speakers if you're looking for a good bass sound.
