  1. the ancient mayan indians were really in touch with the stars and had a perfect 365 day calendar before any other group of people had any idea about the number of days in a year. they only made their calendars date up to 2012. it seems to be just a myth.

  2. The thing about this myth is that it is grossly misinterpreted. Just like Nostradamus. The answers and predictions that were made during the Mayan civilization could mean anything. The calendar ends at 2012, but couldn't that just have been when the person got bored and stopped writing it?

Seriously, though. The prediction is "life as we know it will change completely." That could mean anything from aliens blowing up earth to finding a cure for AIDs to finally figuring out the meaning of life. Humans like to interpret things as "doomsday" for some reason. I don't understand why... it just ends up getting everyone up in arms! Do I think that it will be the end of the world? No. But I guarantee that there will be tons of people in line at your grocery store come the beginning of December 2012. :D

  3. The governments are fixing the problem.

All calenders will go directly from 2011 to 2013.

  4. It's not. You lived through Doomsday Y2K didn't you? Nothing is gonna happen. And if it does, you'll just die. You won't know it and it won't matter.

  5. alot of ppl will use past events to tell you that it's fake for example "june 6 2006" or the year "2000"... but they missout one thing...

the LOGICAL explanation... june 6 2006 was a prediction by great prophecy...

but 2012 is  a prediction by great calculation...

real or not? I say do some research and read more news and stuffs about it... don't just beleive everything ...but just read everything and take it in.

and come up with your own conclusion...

  6. oh it's real [real silly]. why worry about something that hasn't happened yet and if it does happen. what can you do about it?

  7. the world isn't going to end in 2012 that is just a myth

  8. I guess we'll find out in about 4 years.

  9. Just fake.

Ever since the 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenario did not pan out, the scare mongers have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newslett...

    With love in Christ.

  10. Actually that date is when the Mayan calender ends.

It had to end sometime and thats when, there really is no other significance.
