  1. I don't think he's washed up he's just having a bad season, it happens to the best of them!

  2. No. There are drivers who wish they were 9th in points. It is funny that we are saying Jeff is having a bad year because he hasn't won and is 9th in points. That says a lot to me right there. Besides, remember his wild winning streak last year. Just give him time; he will be back on top soon!

  3. Jeff Gordon like him or not, is a champion driver. He has all the tools to win at just about any track. He is one of the most talented and (after 16 years in Cup) experienced drivers on the track. If a driver doesn't win for a while, that doesn't mean to me that he is done.

Hendrick has placed a lot of focus on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Cup effort this year. He wants to put his mouth where his money is, so to speak. I think personally that Gordon, Mears, and Johnson have not gotten the same treatment and equipment. That's just my personal opinion, though- It has happened many times over the years with multi car teams and even some with Hendrick.

Jeff Gordon will not be down long. I think that his crew chief probably needs to be changed. Jeff tends to do good with a fresh one every few years. Although as a father he has a totally different mindset now, I still think that he still has the fire and will come out if his slump soon.

I am not a big Gordon fan, either. I just respect a champion and know how the Racing Gods have worked since the first time they lined up.

  4. It's the new car. 2009 will have everyone most on the same page. Then we'll see the same driver that amazed (and pissed off) the Earnhardt, Sr. fans.

  5. Jeffie isn't washed up. A little washed-out maybe. But look how different a season can make. He's not very happy right now. In fact he looked kind of mad last time I saw him being interviewed. I have a feeling he has something up his sleeve, for the NASCAR audience. I know Steve LeTarte won't let us down. They're being kind of quiet about the situation, but he will once again regain his bragging rights. I think it's funny though, because everyone who liked to call him a f*g, now is all of a sudden concerned for the guy. A friend of mine calls him a little q***r, but he actually put some money down on Jeff Gordon to do good at Bristol this weekend. And everytime my friend says he hates "that little q***r", I look at him funny and say "What the h**l dude?" And it feels like i'm talking to some guy who needs to be kicked out of the bar (and I don't like alcohol) So even the people who don't like Jeff Gordon, know he is not washed up. I do think it's good for the competition that he has been having a bad season. Just when the other teams start thinking this way, Jeff will still be the  guy to put on the show. As far as i'm concerned if Hendrick Motorsports takes the cup again in '09, there will be a big seperation of the people with hurt, g*y feelings and the real NASCAR fans. Maybe that's why HMS wanted Junior, so when the hammer comes down Junior nation won't be so upset. Jeff aint done yet. In fact he wants some action on the track. That's only obvious. And it will be great to see it happen.

  6. I think he' s doing just fine. Jr had a much longer dry spell.... Further more even Dale Sr. Had longer dry spells then came back to win a Championship. I'd hardly say he is washed up. Weather your just making a statement to get a rise out of people or not I do not know, but it is clearly evident that drivers that do not win for a bit are still very competitive. Take Mark Martin for instance or Jeff Burton....In today's NASCAR drivers do not hang around past their competitiveness. There is too much money in it. Sponsors will not put up with it too long.

  7. No way, maybe this yr has been a bad yr, but then there is next yr. Don't worry Jeff Gordon fans he will rebound and do it big time.. I keep telling my Jeff Gordon fan this..They are ready to jump off the deep end. Now they know what it feels like to be a Dale Jr fan. But Jeff will win a race this yr and look out next yr he will be back.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  8. I don't know about washed up, but he's been my favorite since 1998. He seems to have lost some of that passion he had back then, and in the process I've lost some of the passion I had cheering for him before. Maybe he'll get a win soon and suddenly get on a roll. I don't think he's washed up at all, the talent is there, and had there been no chase he may be a 6 time champion. Everyone has a down year, and I don't think he's getting the attention he used to at HMS. Plus I believe he is retiring in about 2 years. That's gonna suck but to answer your question I don't think he's washed up, just not as passionate about NASCAR now that he has a kid and all. And that's coming from a fan.

  9. While he will likely win a few more races in his career, it seems obvious that his peak is in the past.

Like all of the greats before him, he is now older and less able than he was in his prime, but Bill Elliot won races later in his career, as did Terry Labonte, King Richard, Rusty Wallace and many others.

Gordon will also, but not at the same level as in his youth.

It would be naive to expect anything different.

  10. Champion how many times now????1,2,3,4????

Oh well, guess you do not follow Nascar that much, every driver have their off seasons, but Jeff Gordon is not washed up..he still is in contention for the Cup..there will be 12 drivers slugging it out, he may not win this year but what the hey.."he'll be back"

How many others can claim that FAME???

other than the King Petty with 7 and Dale SR with 7..which records will never be broken..too much talent and young guns wanting it but will never achieve it!

just my opinion and 4 cents worth

  11. no

  12. One bad season doesn't constitute being washed up.

  13. he's always been washed up.  I don't understand why so many people think that he is God of Nascar.  He has never really been that good.  He is a complete hothead

  14. No! it's just one season

I mean guys like Tony,Matt Kenseth,Greg Biffle,Kevin Harvick still havent won yet either

  15. Jeff will never be "washed up". He's still in the chase and could win the Championship.I

m not sure whose fault it is but he has had a lot of bad pit stops this year.

  16. lol dued he just got a kid i think he been happy and spending more time with him then work i think thats why he in a slump he whants to kick back and enjoy his family

  17. These kind of silly questions make me smile. I have said this before.

How good is a driver when he is still in the chase and people asks if he is washed up. There are 30 + other drivers that wish they were have a year like he is. These kind of questions show just how good he really is.

  18. Good answer Winter Glory.  While watching the Sprint practice yesterday, they were speaking of how Jeff just turned 37 and was only going to race maybe 2-3 more years.  I wouldn't call him washed up, he's just had alot of bad luck this season.  He will get a win in.

    Go Dale Jr. #88!!

  19. I agree with Winter, hes just having a bad year. He's FAR from "washed up"...

  20. He's not washed up.  He'll never dominate like he did once though.  Everyone has a season that's not up to their standards sometime in their careers.

  21. I think he may be getting close to retirement.  I dont think that his heart is in it as much anymore.  But that is what happens when you become a daddy =)

  22. I doubt it. He might be having a sub-par ( by his lofty standards ) season, but there is always next year. He is currently 9th outta 66 people that have scored points in Cup the year. I bet the other 55 would trade in a hot minute with him.

  23. DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT!! HMS WILL RETURN YOU WAIT AND SEE. JEFF GORDON WILL DOMINATE AGAIN!@#$$%%%!$%^^&%^**

  24. No he isn't washed up.  Not when I just started liking the guy.  He's not had a stellar year...so what...neither have a lot of drivers.

  25. i dont think jeff gordon is washed up but he's having a bad season=]

  26. he is not done just yet!

  27. I really don't think so. He had a good chemistry with his crew chief that went to the Petty team. I don't think he's had that since. That plus I think he may have trouble adjusting to the new car. I think the older drivers want these new cars to drive like the old ones but the just will never be like the old ones.

I think if he had a different crew chief he would do better.
