Question:

Is the 3.2L V-6 used in 320 models in the early 2000's flex fuel? Or at least in 05?

Alot of people advertise used 2005 CLK/C 320's as flex fuel, able to operate on E85, is this true?

  1. Could be as some are Chrysler minivan engines.

Mercedes did produce a flex-fuel version of that engine in the 2003, 2004, and 2005 model years.  As far as I know that was the only engine and year combination that they did.  And I believe that not all of them were flex-fuel so you'll have to check the labeling on the vehicle in question.  If it's E85 compatible it will be marked as such inside the fuel filler door.

    Although E85 prices are lower than gasoline prices, there's little if any benefit from running E85.  Fuel economy will drop significantly and the cost per mile is usually higher despite the lower cost per gallon.

  3. Mercedes engines are flex-fuel in about half of the C-Class cars beginning around 2003, and most of the V6 engines beginning in 2005. There is a code in the VMI (vehicle master inquiry) that will tell you if the car can run on Ethanol. To find out for sure go to the dealer and have a service advisor or parts advisor check the VMI.
