is the 300 workout enough to replace my current workout (which is a 5x5 routine i do involving bench, squat, etc.)

  1. The 300 workout is hard as ****, I tried it and I almost through up. Its no joke, but if you can do it you'll be ripped.

  2. Its more of a test. The wear on your body makes it ineffective.

  3. I use the 300 workout - but modified - as part of my weekly cardio and all around fitness routine.  The inventor of the 300 acknowledges that it's a test.  But I've used it, and it's also an awesome routine for all around fitness - you hit abs, pecs, quads, glutes, biceps, delts...you name it.  All that in about 20 minutes if you do it fast.

The thing is you won't get into "fighting shape" if all you do is the 300.  You need other stuff - intervals for MHR training and recovery, strength training, shadow boxing and skill training of course...so don't rely on the 300 alone.   And make sure you do it right - form is more important than anything.  So if you can only do 10 pullups, fine - move on to pushups - 28 pushups max you out? fine - move on to box jumps.  The idea is that you totally max out on each exercise and move to the next one WITHOUT STOPPING.  Otherwise you recover and don't get the benefit of cardio that you could.

I say add it in to your 5x5 - warm up for 10 mins and stretch out...maybe some shadow boxing, jumprope, or a 10 min jog.  Then do the 300 for your first cardio session AND your 5x5s.  It should only add a few minutes - if you do it right you won't get through the 300 the first time.  Do it 3x a week and you'll see results quickly.  Assuming you do it in 20 mins, that's only 1 hr a week total.

    Good luck.
