Is the 33rd infantry division a national guard unit or army unit?

My grandfather served in New Guinea and is from Illinois. I know he served in the army and when i do research on the 33rd it says that it is an army unit or national guard unit.

It might have been an active unit then but has been re-designated since, units get changed around all the time. Look up the whole history of the division. Or the unit was deactivated and no longer exists.
