  1. you probably had crab lice for seven years. poor you. go see a chemist.

  2. Wow!  Such a long time to harbor an itch.   Why don't they just scratch it the first time?

I suppose it could be true.   We have all been taught to be patient.  But seven years?  Gosh!

  3. It's true, only the time frame is wrong. It starts about a month after marriage and goesuntil the end of the marriage, and beyond, which sadly nowdays never reaches 7 years. I hace been married 42 years, however, and have never cheated on my wife, nor have I wanted to do so.

  4. It is both.

The term in todays commonly-accepted understanding refers to fidelity in marriage, and suggests an inclination to stray from fidelity at about that time.

A movie was made in 1955 that popularized this theme (starring Marilyn Monroe.)

Prior to that it had the opposite meaning, which was that a marriage would be at its strongest after that much time had passed.

Before that (early to mid-1800s) the term referred to a real itching of the skin that lasted for seven years and a bit later the term became associated with sexual contact.

A cure for the medical condition was not discovered until the early 1900s.
