Question:

Is the 80 GB PS3 MGS Bundle reverse compatible? And how well is it if at all?

I tried running Shadow of the Colossus and the PS3 didn't even acknowledge that there is a disc in the drive. Is there anything I need to do to get it to work, an update of sorts? Or is it simply not backwards compatible enitrely/at all?

  1. Yeah, the 80gig has a ps2 emulator, which  may not run games perfectly, but run most of them just fine.

The new one is actually the old 40gb in disguise, just 2 times the capacity....and the 40 cant play ps2 games.

the 60gb can play ALL PSX and PS2 games tho

  2. Yes, it is backwards compatible with most games, like 2 out of my 50 or so games haven't to run well, but all have run.

You are probably thinking of the new 80gb $400 ps3, which has no backwards compatibility.

It should play ps2 games out of the box (if it plays ps3 games, that is).
