I took my CPR test on line for 19.95 and will get my card in the mail in a few days. I am an Ohio dental assistant. I let my CPR card exp. in Feb/08 and saw on line that they offer this. I did some research and it is the same accreditation as American Heart Assos.

Is there anyone out there in the dental field that knows if it HAS to have American Heart ***. on it ?

  1. Allied Health Care only recognizes AED/CPR training as certified from the American Heart Association. This is because they are the association involved in all clinical trials and thus set the guidelines. If your card does not say American Heart Association, more than likely you will have to be re-certified depending up your state and office protocols. Also, in order to receive an AHA card you must have passed both a written and practical exam - online test will not work.

  2. NO 'on-line' CPR program or re-certification is valid according to American Heart Association or Red Cross standards. They both require a hands-on component in front of a certified instructor. The group you wen to claims the same 'standards' as the Heart Association, but not the same content or certification.

I have found that most programs that need you to have CPR certification do not accept on-line certifications. Most require American Heart, Red Cross, or National Safety Council.

In Ohio, your CPR has to be from a DANB-approved list (per this site: http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/analy...

This article lists approved CPR vendors, and yours is not on it. In fact, the article specifically says that no class that does not include a written AND a skills portion (hands-on portion) will be accepted. (http://www.danb.org/PDFs/CourseBook.pdf)

In short, I think this is not going to work for you.

    Sorry!
