  1. Depends on what you want to do - but it's less "combat" oriented then the other branches - and you still get deployed to Iraq/Afghanistan though - deployments are now up to 6 months at a time.

  2. It's definitely not as strenuous as some other branches deployments are much shorter and if your looking for anything technology related I would say go Air-Force. A little harder to get into, the army will take anybody if it doesn't work out for you. If you want to kill terrorist go army infantry, Jar-heads to to a lesser extent a lot of them dudes are crazy.

  3. It all depends, there are many variables.

I liked the Navy, but then the Navy pays much more.

  4. Well, I am a Marine that solely reconciles the belief that the USAF means United States Chair Force = civilians in uniform.  But I have to hand it to our 'little blue yonder boys' that the USAF contains the best technical schools that the US Gov't has to offer within Dept. of Defense!  It solely depends on what you seek as a career.  They constitute the best plan for your future, even if you plan on getting out after your 4-year enlistment.  That means, you will have an 80-percent chance that you will succeed in obtaining  a 40k or more salary as a civilian, providing that you chose a field that is exchangeable into the civilian similarities.  This is the best branch for future successors!

I am a Marine however, we do not get that luxury!  To be a Marine, that means we sacrifice civilian success for military challenge!  We Marines do however capture the eyes of the beautiful Air Force women while we steal the dignity of the Army; we will walk upon the backs of our fellow squids (I meant sailors-sorry!) as they shuffle the dirt beneath our boots.  You will not seek triumph, but glory and pride amongst the ranks of the Marine Corps!  I, for one, who is a Marine that relinquished that jealous fact that I didn't joined the USAF to seek that chance of a successful, luxorious life!  In other words, not so poetic, The Air Force is the way to go if you are a geek, or nerd of the similar task!  They will offer you the best education and enlistment bonuses that the Dept. of the Air Force has to offer!

  5. Yes, I think it is if you want to serve.

  6. I actually went to see an Air Force Recruiter yesterday. Based on what I heard, if you want good quality of life and want to go to college then it is the way to go. Each branch has their own good points so it really depends on what YOU want out of your military career.

I've talked to all of the local recruiters and I'm actually trying to make the same decision you are! The Army offers more money for college and they have the Army Advantage Fund plus a LOT of cool jobs and the Navy offers more travel opportunities and school at sea.

So it's really up to you, I'd advise you to talk to each of the recruiters and see which branch better fits you!

  7. Absolutely. I had the 10 best years of my life with the AF. Now one to the real question, what do you want to do in the military? If the answer is carry a gun, go the Army or Navy, but if you want o work with the latest aircraft and technology, go to the AF. If you want to really see the world, be and AF aircrew member. I was a loadmaster on C-17s and was to many different places without actually having to live there. Good luck.

  8. It really depends on your goals.  By the way, I am not an Air Force recruiter.  I am a Major in the US Air Force, with 13 years of service.  I joined the Air Force as an officer for three reasons:  first, I really did have (and still do have) a desire to serve the nation that I love.  Second, I viewed the military also as a means to support myself and my family. (I am now married with kids).  Last, I really wanted to fly.  School and training were definitely challenging, completing my bachelor's degree, ROTC training, and flight school.  I wouldn't change a thing.  You probably won't be surprised that I believe that the Air Force IS the way to go.  I have spent a good amount of time with other service branches, especially the Army, and they are full of great people, too.  Even though I have been deployed a good amount, the Air Force has been great for us.  The bottom line is that you need to decide what is best for you in achieving your goals.  If you would like a lot more detail about what the Air Force has to offer you, talk to a recruiter, and make them answer YOUR questions, instead of them telling you what would be a good fit for you.  Good luck to you.

  9. for me the US Navy Submarine Force has been the best thing I have ever done..it was very hard, and isolated, but the engineering and managerial training I got on top of the service to our country has been very worth it!

    it has made my life...
