Ever since I can remember I've wanted to fly. I have flown little cessnas before and the like but I was wondering would it be better for me to go into the Army or the Air Force if I wanted to fly?

  1. I have to agree with ReckonDog. The Navy is by far better than Army or Air Force if you want true pilot schooling and intense professionalism. Go to http://www.mynavyonline.com for more help and detailed information on pilot training, etc for the Navy. I'm KJC88 there. Boot camp in the Navy is about 9 weeks, 8 weeks of true training, AF is a bit harder and Army is definitely a lot tougher.

  2. I believe all armed services Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines use helicopters as well as the Coast Guard, National Guards, Reserves, and even the Border Patrol.

I would investigate all of them.  Army has program "High School to Fight School", that allows you to apply without completing a bachelors degree program and officer training school.  However, most of those pilots are not assigned fixed wing assignments.

Start training now for your Flight Aptitude Skills Test (FAST).  It's much harder than the SAT.

  3. The Army has more pilots than the Air Force or the Navy.....Your chances of becoming a pilot are better in the Army...... getting cross trained in various aircraft is also better in the Army

No partisanship on my part.....just the simple truth

  4. Oorah!  The Navy!  They contain the best pilots in the Armed Service, who else can land a Mach 3 fighter jet onto a landing strip no bigger than a football field in the middle of the night; at sea!

I love my Marines and my pilots, but we Marines know (pilots or grunts) know that the Navy is unbeatable.  I rather rely on Marines and Navy pilots to provide us close air support than the USAF.  However the Army Warrant Officers that pilot their troops to the combat zone...they do a mightly fine job too.  I can't decide!!!!!

  5. The Army has far more things that require pilots than either the Navy or the Air Force.

  6. There are no fixed wing aircraft in the army. all they have are helicopters. Though im biased, if you want to be part of the best, join the marines. If you fly a helicopter in the army, you do not need to become a CO, you just need to go to WO school once you enlist, then you will be eligible. but for the other branches, you will need to be commisioned. in the marines, you will report to the basic school after commisioning, and when you get there, you will need to tell them that you want an aviation guarentee. that means that if you pass the physical, you get to be a pilot or flight officer, which ever you pick, no matter what. unless you flunk out of TBS. after TBS you will go to flight school, which is 16 months long i believe in pensecola, florida. amazing beaches ;) give it a look. shoot me an email if you want more info about the marines.

  7. I would suggest the air-force as they have a broader range of aircraft to fly,

  8. wwhy not the navy they fly to it depends on what you want the airfore focus on airlifts and home airspace defence.....the army is mostly all airlift orattack helios but the navy is if your in it for the thrill because in any aircampain you would be on the spear head from the carriers so it alll depends

  9. Army is primarily rotary aircraft, they have very limited fix wings. Air Force is primarily fixed wing with limited rotary aircraft. So it's pretty much depends on what do you want to fly, a fixed wing or a helicopter.
