The American flag they have on the back of their forearm. Is that a common tattoo in the Army or was that fictional for the movie?

  1. tons of guys in the Army have flag tattoos, but most of them are different in some way, mine is 3 slashes on my right upper arm, it looks like my skin is getting ripped away and underneath that is the flag showing through.

  2. That is where the flag is worn on the ACUs, and when I was at Ft. Carson last, I saw a soldier with that tat, but he could have been influenced by the movie.

BTW: The flag tat is on his upper arm, not his forearm

  3. As with what has been said before, flag tattoos are popular in the military as a whole, not just in the Army.  After the second time I came back from Iraq I got a barbed wire band on my upper arm with the American flag woven through it.

Old Glory will live as long as I do.
