Is the BMW M3 faster than a Ferrari??

The Ferrari Enzo has 660, the Spider 490. It depends on the Ferrari you're on about but no.

Also, over what distance. 100 yards, 1/4, 1/2 mile etc.

BMW M3 is a 420hp V8 engine.

Ferrari is usually over 500hp - 650hp (depends on the type).

Ferrari is much faster than the M3.

however, m3 is such a nice car compared to the price.

Which Ferrari?...the slowest Ferrari even with a governor on the engine and US emissions regulation exhaust systems..clocks in at 180 mph....The BMW M3 is heavily governed but easy to tune...it's 160 mph at it's very best with a experienced driver at the wheel...now if a heavily modified Bimmer with at least 500 or  600 hp would appear...it might smoke a Ferrari in the hands of a novice driver...but there are Ferraris that hit 180 to 190 mph so easy...that even before hitting redline..the Bimmer is toast...square a Bimmer against WRX Subaru or a Mitsubishi EVO....
