Is the Basement in Columbus Ohio a bad area?

I want to go to several concerts there, but I've had many people tell me that it's a bad place. I plan on going with several friends. is it safe?

The Basement is across the street from Nationwide Arena, next to Promowest Pavilion.  If you're going with friends, I don't see why anyone would consider it a dangerous area.  I certainly have necer felt uncomfortable there.
