I was just wondering, since I know that Belgium has many ethnic Francophones, Dutch-speakers, and German-speakers.

  1. To correct "Maybe?" :

Belgium has 3 official languages : Dutch, French and German.

Our royal family is neither Dutch nor French nor German for that matter. They are Belgians!

They are supposed to be trilangual even quadrilangual if we count English - most of them are - but, at home, they speak French.

    Hope this helps.

  2. He is ethnically neither Dutch nor French: he is Belgian.

By the way, Belgium is a country with two official languages, French and Flemish.

He would be speaking in Flemish to his family.
