Bits is a section of NT TImes technology. I don't know if these articles are personal blogs or objective report from NY Times.

Anyone know?

  1. I read Bits: it's sort of in between.

The authors are reporters for the paper and the postings are usually written in the same tone as the "real" articles, but are often shorter. Occasionally, they drift into first person and sometimes offer personal judgments, but are always professional.

Given that http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/26/busine... ran as an article in the paper rather than on a blog like Bits, and that David Pogue's columns are often personal, I don't really see much meaningful distinction between Bits blog posts and regular NY Times articles in terms of voice and objectivity. The differences seem to be length of the item, whether or not the item appears in the print edition, and whether it allows user comments.
