Is the Black Forest beautiful?

Is there still a forest there? What is in the Black Forest?

Yes. The colors from the trees are very dark, this is why they are calling this place black forest. You can skiing, hiking and walking there. There is also nice hotels and towns.

It is fantastic. It is called Black Forest because on overcast days the pine trees look black from a distance. Even in the woods on a not sunny day there is very little day light reaching the ground. It is dark and - well black !!! I grew up there and miss it dearly. The BF is a loveley part of Germany and well worth seeing.

In my view it is just gorgeous.

The mountains are covered in fir trees, whose dark colour gives it the name, the valleys are agricultural land, mostly small fields and orchards, and the villages are mostly still very olde-worldly, with loads of wooden balconies and their window boxes a riot of colour in summer. You walk up a hill, and you see only the trees for a while, but then they open up, and you get the most amazing view over a landscape like a giant park. I like it best in autumn, when the apples and pears are ripe, and the walnuts and chestnuts, but every time of the year - its just beautiful

It is still there. Lots of trees, great for hiking and skiing.

Black, because the trees are dark green and the German word for black is schwarz and in German it is called Schwarz Wald. It is a huge area.

Yes, it is beautiful. But right now it isn't black, it's white. They got snow today :-)
