Is the Blackberry Curve 8310 a good Phone?

Is blackberry curve 8310 a good phone without the data plan if all i really want it for is for texting,calling,and pictures?

I love my curve ... I'm with Alltel and was told that you can't get one of these phones w/o getting a data package ... Not sure if all companies do this or not.

The Blackberry phones have been favorites in the cellular world for a while now so yes, they are great phones.  As you know, they are e-mail machines and are exceptional at what they do!  Not having a data plan in effect cripples the Blackberry.  You would not be able to send or receive e-mail, picture messages or anything else that uses the internet.  Why would you want to have this great smartphone and dumb it down by killing its internet capability?

In my opinion, if you do not want to use the internet, e-mail functions, you do not need a smartphone.
