  1. Just a scary movie...nothing more than that.

  2. The Blair Witch was a school project for some film students (rather poorly done) that became popular enough to be released as a movie. The Blair Witch competes with Casper the Friendly Ghost as to which is more based on real events.

If you want a "true"? story look up the Bell Witch.

    Michael John Weaver, M.S.

  3. It was a hoax and a movie.

It was hilarious to see people who bought the promo (a guy in a white coat is speaking on camera so it must be true) and were quoting it as if it were an actual event. A week after they realized they had been had, they were singing a different tune.

For such a razor thin budget, they managed to do turn out a pretty suspenseful movie. I can still see that little bubble of snot on the main actress's face during her camera apology.

    But no, it's not real.

By far most of the C R A P discussed in this section of Y! Answers isn't real!

  4. It was a movie. Nothing more.

There were allusions to real places and legends, but it was just a work of fiction.

"In the film, the Blair Witch is, according to legend, the ghost of Elly Kedward, a woman executed for witchcraft in 1785 in the Blair Township (present-day Burkittsville). The directors incorporated that part of the legend, along with allusions to the Salem Witch Trials and The Crucible to play upon the themes of injustice done on those who were called witches.[4] The directors were also influenced by The Shining, Alien, The Omen and Jaws for the technique of showing the antagonist as little as possible to create a compelling psychological drama.[2]"

  5. Just a completely fictional movie.

    .

  6. no, it's not

  7. No, it was a movie cheaply done that made a lot of money.

  8. h**l no... those who died in that stupid movie showed up in the awards night!!! that movie gave me a headache with all the stupid chasings...i watched that movie coz i wanted to see how the so called witch or monster looked like... but then again it was a low budget good for nothin film... all i saw was the running. the movie was a total failure in my view

  9. I don't know, but it was entertaining.

  10. No, it's just a movie.

  11. I remember when that came out.  It was not real...there were even news stories about it.

  12. It's definitely real, I have it on DVD. If you liked Heather Donahue in the Blair Witch Project, check her out in "Taken". Excellent mini-series from the Sci-Fi Channel.

  13. I rather enjoyed the Blair Witch, but it was just a movie and not real. You have to put yourself in the place of the actors instead of being an "outside observer" to appreciate the scary factor in that movie. Bell Witch is also a great legend and seems plenty scary. I think a Bell Witch movie recently came out but I didn't hear much about it. It probably went straight to video.

EDIT: A Bell Witch movie came out in 2004 and another is due out this year. Check out the IMDB link.

  14. It is just a tack movie, nothing more.

  15. it was real i saw it at the movies ............................ ll

  16. everybody knows its a hoax!
