They're made from soy protein, not bean curd (which is what tofu is), so I'd go with no, they're not tofu, they're soy.

Tofu is soybean curd.  Boca is also made from soy but texturized.    Technically..they are not the same.

Boca products are made from soy concentrates and soy isolates.  It is not made from tofu (soy bean curd), but is a soy product.

The tofu is probably safer.
